So I think by now we’ve established that everything posted on this blog conveys feeling—the emotions, affections, excitements that wiggle their way through ears and into brainstems—this is what we’re interested in. Anyone who keeps up with our latest posts already knows that hip-hop is our current bread and butter. Why? Because the hip-hop tunes we’ve been listening to are confident, eager, hustle-driven, and rough around the edges; they’re everything us twenty-somethings feel day-to-day. Maybe that’s just how you become as you grow older, or maybe that’s just the pressure of expectations accelerating you forward. Either way it feels good, and we have more hip-hop for your thirsty ears. This time it’s our boy Jeff Gaston aka CEAZARNTG, fresh off the release of the thought-provoking cannabis cloud that is the Trinity Mixtape. Don’t make the mistake of throwing Jeff into the “lazy weed rapper” box, because Trinity finds the young rapper straight flexing with hard hitting bars and starving hungriness. Simply put, CEAZARNTG is a dream-chaser. The rapper (and our close, personal friend) embraced the solo-cup lifestyle on the young and lively party-rap classic, Oro with his Raleigh-based crew, NEWZTEAM; however this new tape is really something to marvel at.
A few nights ago myself, Jeff, and Ryan (the other writer for this blog) marveled upon a blazing bonfire inside a pit made by our own hands. With the comforting warmth of Keystone Light cradled within our stomachs, we came to the conclusion that those who chase their dreams as a profession are ultimately the best people in this pale blue dot we call Earth (thanks Carl Sagan). It sounds a bit absurd but it was an in-the-moment thing, something I’ll remember for a long time. CEAZARNTG is chasing it, and he’s not far off from achieving his dream. Stream Trinity in its entirety via the embedded link, and download that ish. Below we have the soulful “WALLSTREET” featuring fist clutching verses from DEFINITION and PRO, and CEAZARNTG on a Kendrick-esque flow.
Enjoy, and we have big plans for the locals here in Austin TX. Stay tuned and remember to follow @SurfThatSax on twitter for updates.
